Every January for the past 5 years, Oakford Internet Services and a team of 8 pack up their stuff and head to the Excel Center for The BETT Show, London. Without exception we once again attended and this soon became our best year to date at the show.
Deciding what to showcase at The BETT Show can be very challenging, especially as a company that specialises in online products and services. It can be near on impossible to show off what we do in a physical sense. After multiple meetings, thoughts and ideas we finally came together and decided to focus on one solid product, our award winning School Broadband.
Broadband can be one of the biggest problems for schools. In short, it can be nothing but a nightmare – especially if you struggle to obtain decent speeds. As rural broadband specialists, we combine specialist bonding equipment to provide all schools with fast, safe and reliable broadband services, despite their location. By keeping schools online, they can stay up to speed with the rest of the word, enjoying all the online educational opportunities.
With the idea of location in mind, we decided to focus on splitting our stand in two, showing our visitors that we can provide School Broadband. Anywhere. On one side of our stand we displayed an urban area which illustrated London as a backdrop. As the most populous city in England, we decided London was a great place to draw people in. The urban side also included a park bench which was filled with our giveaways including chocolate, pens, keyrings, notepads, etc. This approach ended up being hugely successful when talking to potential customers and allowed us to sit down and talk business. On the other side of the stand, we had a rural area. This demonstrated the countryside with the image of the fields and hay bales. To give a more rural feel we decided to bring Betty, the life-sized cow along with us. She stole the show.
Throughout the show Betty and our mini Betty’s (our cow stress balls) were both extremely popular with passers-by and visitors. Betty soon became the star of the show and had numerous pictures with ardent admirers allowing us the opportunity to speak to those we may not have spoken to otherwise.
Bett 2018 prep has already commenced, ideas have been brainstormed and we hope to bring Betty back along with us. We hope to make next year even better than this year’s success.
